Hello, I’m Diane

Originally from the North East of England, I’ve also lived and worked in Edinburgh before making my home in the historic village of Saltaire, on the outskirts of Bradford.

I first read about the Alexander Technique before trying it myself. When I developed a sore neck through teaching, I contacted a local teacher for lessons. I was so impressed by the experience that I decided I would like to train as a teacher myself.

I qualified as an Alexander Technique teacher in 2019, following three years of training in York.

I’m interested in helping people develop a greater awareness of how they use their bodies in everyday life, particularly the habits and patterns of movement that can develop over many years.

Through individual lessons, I offer my pupils a supportive space to explore these patterns and discover new possibilities for movement and coordination.

What is the Alexander Technique?

The Alexander Technique is a practical approach to developing greater awareness of how we move, sit, stand and carry ourselves throughout everyday life.

Over time, we can develop habits of movement and muscular tension without even realising it. The Alexander Technique encourages us to notice these patterns and explore different ways of moving.

Rather than a set of exercises, it is a process of learning to recognise and change habitual responses.

Learning for everyday life

One of the appealing things about the Alexander Technique is that its principles can be explored wherever you are.

Whether sitting at a desk, walking, standing or carrying out ordinary daily activities, there are opportunities to become more aware of your habits.

The technique can be explored by people of different ages and backgrounds.
